Dropping Off Strays
Westbrook Animal Refuge League (A.R.L.) will be the drop off point for strays from Standish. The Town of Standish has contracted with the A.R.L. to be the facility used. The A.R.L. is located at 449 Stroudwater Street, Westbrook, Maine 04092. Telephone 207-854-9771.
Picking Up Strays
All strays, including cats and dogs, that are picked up by the Animal Control officer will be taken to the Westbrook Animal Refuge League. Owners of licensed dogs that are taken to A.R.L. can pick up their dogs after paying any impoundment fees and boarding fees. Any fees incurred for medical attention given to pets must be paid in full by the owner. Owners of unlicensed dogs will need to come to the Town Hall to give proof of rabies vaccination and then license their dog before picking it up from the A.R.L. Proof of licensing will be required by A.R.L. before a dog is released.
If pickup of the stray occurs on Saturday, the owners must wait until the Town offices open the following week to make payment and claim their dog at A.R.L.
