Re: Western Oxford Foothills Cultural Council’s Route 113 Byway Initiative
August 8, 2006
The Town Council of Standish would like to take this opportunity to offer this letter in support of the Western Oxford Foothills Cultural Council’s effort to have Route 113 Designated as a Maine Scenic Byway.
There is little doubt that such a designation would enhance economic activity through the creation of a more robust “cultural tourism” base would showcase the natural and scenic beauty of the Route 113 corridor. Both of these aspects, and many others of the byway initiatives, are important to the Town of Standish.
We support the efforts of Western Oxford Foothills Cultural Council (WOF) in its continued quest to protect and enhance the regional character of the Route 113 corridor.
Sincerely,
Terence Christy
Town Council Chair
