TITLE: ESTABLISH COMMITTEE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A ROADWAY PLAN
WHEREAS Standish wishes to properly prepare for future traffic needs that result not only from anticipated growth and development but also from the impact of the future Gorham by-pass, now therefore be it
ORDERED that an ad-hoc Roadway Plan Committee is hereby created to plan for future traffic demands with the following membership, mission, support and time period:
1. The Roadway Plan Committee shall consist of three Councilors, one Planning Board Member, and four or more members of the public, all to be appointed by the Council Chair. The Council Chair will insure the members of the public represent the various areas of the Town.
2. The mission will be to produce a Roadway Plan for the Town of Standish to include, but not be limited to, the location of future rights-of-way and the location of future curb cuts for vehicular access to/from primary roads in order to address increased traffic demands over the next fifteen years. The Roadway Plan will take into consideration the proposals suggested by the Comprehensive Plan 2006 such as desired growth patterns and the character of the villages as reflected through the village design studies.
3. It is anticipated that this effort will last from six to nine months and will commence upon receipt of the engineering report of curbs cuts and intersection alignments for Route 25 and approval of the Comprehensive Plan 2006.
4. Administrative and technical support shall be provided under an outside professional services contract. The Public Works Director and Planner will provide technical advice as necessary.
