The Town of Standish can process first-time and renewal registrations for boats, ATVs and snowmobiles for its residents and non-residents.
To process a first-time registration for any of the above recreational vehicles items you have acquired through a casual sale you will need the following:
Bill of Sale - which should include seller's name, buyer's name, VIN number, Maine registration number(if previously registered in Maine), and price of recreational vehicle.
Sales Tax - Be prepared to pay 5% of sales price for sales tax.
To process a first-time registration for any of the above recreational vehicles you have acquired through a dealer sale you will need the following:
Dealer's Certificate - Green form that shows that sales tax has been collected from the dealer.
To process a renewal registration for any of the above recreational vehicles present your previous registration at renewal time.
Registration Period
All Boats Expire December 31 of each year. ATV's and Snowmobiles expire June 30 of each year.
Fees
Boat registration fees and excise tax are based on year, length and horsepower of motor - call for price.
