SPECIAL TOWN COUNCIL MEETING
JUNE 26, 2007 – STANDISH MUNICIPAL BUILDING   - 7:00 PM

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by the Chair and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

ROLL CALL
The roll was called by Gordon Billington.   Six Councilors present – Councilor Pomerleau was excused.

NEW BUSINESS     
78-07 Town Council Appointments to fill Planning Board Vacancies [Spencer]

Moved by Spencer Seconded by Christy and Voted to table this order until the July 10 Council meeting to give additional time for submission of applications through July 3.  (Unanimous)

79-07 Approve Warrant for MSAD # 6 Special Budget Referendum [Stack]

Councilor Burgess asked the date of the election and costs of the holding a referendum.

School Board Director Teresa Whyte explained the costs as a whole is approximate cost is $6,000.  She said that she thought that the cost to for Standish was 40 – 45 percent of that amount.

Councilor Burgess asked what would happen if it failed again.

Teresa Whyte said that they could hold another referendum or a public meeting.  Until the time the budget is passed the school will operate on last year’s budget.

VOTE: 6 Yeas – 0 Nays

80-07   Approve Election Clerks and Election Warden for MSAD # 6 Special Budget Referendum [Stack]

VOTE: 6 Yeas – 0 Nays

PUBLIC ITEMS
Chair Stack announced the openings on various boards and committees.  Chair Stack asked if there was a Councilor that would like to serve as the Watchic Lake Liaison.  Councilor Christy said that he would like to serve as the Liaison and he was appointed to that position.  Chair Stack noted that applications are available for the Historic Preservation Commission.  He explained that parties interested in serving on a board or committee can contact Mary for an application.
EXECUTIVE SESSION (S)
An executive session was not needed at this meeting.

ADJOURN
Moved Seconded and Voted to adjourn. The meeting adjoined at 8:12 pm by unanimous consent.
