SKATEBOARD ENTHUSIASTS: The Recreation Committee is preparing to request bids for construction of a Skate park in Summer 2010, and we need your input! We have two designs below, and we would like to hear about which one you prefer, along with any additional feedback that you'd like to provide. Go to the comment page by clicking here. SUMMER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES: Standish Recreation Department is accepting employment applications for Assistant Camp Director and Camp Counselors for the 2010 Summer Program. Applicants need to be 16 years of age by the first day of summer camp (tentative start date is Monday, June 21). Applications are available at Town Hall or online by clicking here. The DEADLINE to
apply is Thursday, March 25, 2010. For more information call 642-2875.
FEBRUARY VACATION CAMP: Registration for camp has begun. Forms are available online by clicking here, and they are also available at the Town Hall. The deadline to register is Thursday, February 4th. Completed registration forms & payments must be made at the Town Hall by the deadline. Parent Handbooks are available at the Town Hall as well, or online by clicking here. Programatic information can be found in the February newsletter. We hope to see you there.
WINTER SOCCER CLINICS: The Standish Recreation Department in cooperation with Narragansett United and Scot’s Soccer invite you to join our After School Winter Soccer Clinics on Tuesdays from 3:00-4:30 p.m. at G.E.J. School. Cost is $30 per player - $20 for each additional sibling. For anyone wishing to remain at After School Program until 6:00 p.m., there will be an additional fee of $20.00 for the 5 weeks. FAMILY SKATING PARTY: Sunday, February 7, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. -Come on down and get some exercise before you spend the evening sitting on the couch watching the Super Bowl! The ice skating party is free and open to anyone. There's a warming hut when you need a break from the cold as well as a bonfire to warm cold hands and feet. Refreshments and music is provided.
2009/2010 AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM - We are currently accepting registrations for the 2009/2010 Standish Recreation After School Program. The After School Program for the 2009/2010 school year will begin on Monday, August 31 and will be held at G.E. Jack Elementary School. This program is open to children in Grades K – 5 that attend Edna Libby, Steep Falls or George E. Jack Elementary Schools. It is held Monday - Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (note change in time for this
year), excluding all school vacations, holidays & snow days. For additional information, please review the Parent Handbook. To register for this program, please use After School Registration Form. You can see more information at the After School Program's webpage.
DISCOUNT TICKET PROGRAM - The Recreation Department currently has discounted tickets to Cinemagic Tickets, and they are available to be purchased in the Clerk's Office during regular business hours. Prices are $7.00/ticket , which is a 17% savings.
WE HAVE A GIFT CERTIFICATE PROGRAM - You can purchase gift certificates for use with Standish Recreation programs. You determine the amount and the recipient, and give the gift that keeps on giving. For more information contact the Recreation Department at 642-2875.
STANDISH RECREATION HAS A LISTSERVE - If you would like to subscribe, and be kept up-to-date about current programs, events, schedule changes, etc., send an email to Linda Brooks with "Subscribe Me" in the subject line or body of the message. You will then get an email asking you to confirm your subscription request. We look forward to hearing from you.
