A second grant was awarded to the PCC

The Public Safety Committee also applied for, and was awarded, the MDOT's Community Gateway Grant. Applicants were required to set forth a plan for identifying and improving entrances to their community. Standish was awarded the grant based on a plan to install Street Banners in all three of Standish's village centers; Standish Corner, Sebago Lake Village, and Steep Falls. The banners will visually unify the community of Standish as well as promote "traffic calming", as street banners signal drivers that there may be retail activities and pedestrians present. The first set of banners went up in July, 2001.
