The Standish Communications Center is located at the Central Fire Station within the Municipal Center and is operated 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Receiving and dispatching calls for Fire, Medical emergencies, animal control, facilitating the issuance of burning permits and any special requests of the towns contract Sheriff's deputies. The dispatchers are the first line in customer service for the citizens and vistors of the town. We have four full time dispatchers with supplement from six part time dispatchers. There is one dispatcher on duty at a time. Standish is operating the last Stand alone Fire Dispatch Center in the State. Standish Dispatch handles walkins to the public safety division, recieves the communities 9-1-1 calls from the Cumberland County Communications Center, answers 4 other business lines, as well as monitoring 3 primary and all of our surrounding mutual aid radio frequencies. Standish Public Safety Dispatch had 20,645 encounters in 2011 with the public to include phone calls and citizens making direct contact at the window in the public safety lobby.
